Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

This is my submission for the Languages Matter! Contest by UNESCO. It’s a poster for International Mother Language Day, and the one with the most votes, plus the one the judges like the most, wins! Once they’re up for voting, i’ll post a link so you can help me win. I would like to win. You should help me to win.

So I just got a new journal/sketchbook, and I want to try and write/draw in it everyday. Hopefully I can do that, but I think we all know that I can’t. I’m going to post them as I do them, to help make this blog a little more active! How bout that.

Here is my sketch for a Barnes and Noble back-to-school notebook or bag. It’s about interconnectedness…and eating and reading. Enjoy the treehouses and graveyard!

Manticore

Friday, December 12th, 2008

So this image is based on a mythical creature called the Manticore and the neighborhood I grew up in. The Manticore has a human head, three rows of teeth and a red lion’s body. It is also a rambunctious man-eater. Bamboo fits into my neighborhood because my street is a double dead end, with my house on one end and a small bamboo farm on the other. It belonged to an old neighbor I never knew. I remember being scolded for playing in the bamboo by my mother, so the Manticore sort of is also her, and the blue shoe sort of is also me. Sooo if you’re reading, HI MOM!
